PLI Scheme for Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) Battery Storage facilitates demand creation for battery storage in India

Key Aspects of the scheme

  1. The scheme envisages setting up of a cumulative ACC manufacturing capacity of fifty (50) GWh for ACCs and an additional cumulative capacity of (5) GWh for Niche ACC Technologies
  2. The beneficiary firm will have to commit to set up minimum of five (5) GWh of ACCs manufacturing facility. The total annual cash subsidy to be disbursed by the Government will be capped at 20GWh per beneficiary firm.
  3. To ensure a Single-Window mechanism for the potential investors, a state-level grand- challenge will be initiated, including provision for encumbrance-free land, trunk infrastructure facilities, power at rationale rate to the potential investors for attracting the Projects in their states.

Vision for the Scheme

3 Net savings of Indian ₹ 2,00,000 crore to ₹ 2,50,000 crore on account of oil import bill reduction during the period of this Programme
4 Import substitution of around ₹ 20,000 crore every year.
5 Impetus to Research & Development to achieve higher specific energy density and cycles in ACC.
