The Competition Commission of India (CCI) organised an event on 8 March 2019 in Delhi in collaboration with the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) as part of the Commission’s efforts to proactively engage with different stakeholders in the automobile sector to discuss competition issues and possible solutions. This event was an effort by the Advocacy group of the CCI to bring industry and the competition regulator closer and initiate a healthy dialogue to promote a fair competition and create a competitive automotive sector in India.
Vishal Narula, Executive Director, Forensic Services and Lead for Anti-Trust matters was invited to a panel discussion on Abuse of Dominance as an economics and commercial expert along with 2 of the top 3 competition lawyers of India. Vishal shared his perspective on current structure of the industry and inherent structural issues leading to anti-trust issues. Vishal also shared his perspective on future competition issues emerging from futuristic automobile products and structures such as electric vehicles, driver-less vehicles, drone vehicles and more.
This event was attended by the all the Members of the CCI lead by Ashok Kumar Gupta, Chairperson of CCI and over 200 top executives from the automotive industry, comprising MDs, CEOs and legal heads OEM and component manufacturers.
