We think it’s important that everyone can be themselves within our firm. To encourage and support this, we established the Shine network in 2020. Shine is the PwC network for lesbians, gays, bisexuals, trans and intersex persons, queers and everyone who identifies differently as well as their ally’s.
Young colleagues tend to hide their sexuality and/or gender identity when they start their career in a new workplace. We, as Shine India network, aim to build an inclusive workplace where colleagues are encouraged from their first encounter with PwC to be their authentic self.
Over the past years, women are increasingly taking up senior leadership roles. However, many women still struggle to advance their professional and personal development. Why is that? Research found that women’s careers slow down and become more restricted when they have children. Within PwC, we see that the percentage of women colleagues typically declines when climbing the corporate ladder. And this hinders our progress.
The women connect chapter offers a secure and welcoming space for women employees to connect, share experiences, strengths, challenges, and aspirations. These chapters are designed to foster a supportive community of women within PwC.
Society is diverse and the variations within are many. We see that in our own firm and also at our clients - our conversational partners increasingly have different cultural backgrounds.
This network approaches problems from innovative angles to uncover solutions that lead to sustained outcomes and trust-building, in alignment with The New Equation. By combining a diverse range of skills, experience, and technology, the network envisions designing and delivering development programmes that enhance cultural awareness and encourage advocacy for cross-cultural diversity within the APAC region.
The network exemplifies PwC's commitment to care and community support. It's a resource group focused on retaining and assisting new mothers, ensuring a successful return to work, and providing guidance during this transition.
The network serves as a platform for women to connect, share insights, and support one another. Through mentorship, skill development, and advocacy, Women in Tech and Cyber aims to bridge the gender gap and create more diverse and inclusive tech and cyber sectors.
The network is for PwC colleagues with a work-related challenge, their leadership and allies. Together we look for practical solutions that provide colleagues with a work-challenge the opportunity to achieve success. Being open and good communication are keys to that success. Ability commits to opening doors, to increasing (digital) accessibility, to optimising processes for hiring new colleagues and to creating awareness. At PwC we don’t focus on the limitations, but on the opportunities and possibilities.
The network also promotes awareness, understanding, of the unique challenges, passion and adjustment needs of the community, which help in creating synergies towards enhancing workplace experience and creating an inclusive and high performing team where everyone can thrive, regardless of their abilities.
